Converting stations to RS485 when a RS422 data loop did not work |
When onsite, a RS422 data loop was not working. The site had been undergoing renovations and some stations had been removed.
NOTE: This method cannot be used if there are RS422 only (IN2000-XX) stations remaining on the dataloop.
Fault:
The 2100-IS converter had its RX LED on all the time. All stations on the dataloop where turned off, and a voltage of approx 24v remained on the RX wires 72 & 73.
Solution:
Remove wires 72,73 from all stations and converter and convert dataloop to RS485.
Stations:
a) Remove wires from terminals 72,73.
b) link H2 comms for RS485
Converter:
a)
Remove wires from terminals 72,73.
b) change S2 switches 1,2,3,4 & 7 ON.
NOTE: S2 7 is ON for RTU mode in case any of the stations have TXE delay set to zero.
Note:
This is only possible with 2100-XX stations.
It has been tested only on 2100-A16 stations, both rev 1.2 and Rev 0.
