Definitions and Limitations of MicroScan Passives

Network Passive

The most powerful passive (includes passive alarm monitor, ability to remote clear and set alarms setpoints and enables, view comments entered when alarms cleared).

Dongle Required: No (supplied by active PXX)

Composite Passive

Views and displays data from multiple actives.

The least functional passive pages - can only view data from the pages, not clear alarms, change setpoints and enables, not view comments entered from other actives.

Dongle Required: No (supplied by active PXX)

Network Combo

A network active that has passive pages that can view data from other active pages.

The least functional passive pages - can only view data from the pages, not clear alarms, not view comments from other actives.

Dongle Required: Yes. Standard Microscan licence with at least a P1 licence.

Super Passive

A passive that allows more than one V5 passive to be run on one machine at a time. Can also run 1 and only 1 active on the pc at the same time. The passive can be either a standard passive or composite passive.
The Super Passive is started by using a /B command line to start v5 - see Setting up a MicroScan Super Passive.

Dongle Required: No (supplied by active PXX)

Passive Dongle Usage

Note: Each passive being run uses up 1 of the PXX lic on an active. Thus on a P5 system up to 5 passives can be run at the same time.
