Setting up Microscan within a Terminal Server Environment for Passives

New for version 5.0.3000

Install the microscan to a common folder such as c:\microscan

For each user:

1. Create a shortcut on their desktop to c:\microscan\startv5.exe

2. Start Microscan.
It will autostart in Remote Session Passive in first run screen, Click OK.
Network Setup starts, click Setup a Passive
Remote Session Passive highlighted, click Next
Click Specify Search Path, enter the path to common network folder, click Next
Active is searched for and found. Click Next
Click Next

Each passive is setup separately as they may require different user settings i.e View Mask and alarm permissions etc.

Notes:

Data Storage (all created when microscan first run).

Setups saved to Folder My Documents\Microscan
My Documents\microscan.ini
My Documents\username Network Passive
My Documents\username Network Passive\data
My Documents\username Network Passive\setup
My Documents\username Network Passive\backup
My Documents\username Network Passive\temp

All settings are unique per each user, as the My Documents folder is unique to each user.
Each user running requires 1 P licence from the Microscan Active. Even though all passives will be running on the server. Each is run as its own instance.

This has been tested on both Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit.

Windows 2003 - remote setup is called Terminal Services
Windows 2008 - remote setup is called Remote Desktop Services
