Strange file names appear in shared network folder (CA etrust AV scanner)

When using a networked microscan, strange file names as below are seen in the common network folder:

command (username vX).net
network status (username vX)
network status log (username vX).log

What this means is the AV software is changing the file name by adding the (username vX) in the name. v= letter v, X=1,2,3,4,5 etc, the username is the logged on user of the computer running microscan.

This has been see on two sites, and is something to do with the Computer Associates eTrust Anit virus scanner altering the names of the files.
It seems the date of these files was around 2007, so during this time the AV software had an issue with the files that the microscan was creating/using and changing the file names.

It could mean that the networking may not operate properly - i.e one computer was correctly using network status, and the other using a mangled name network status (username v1).
