Steps to make a backup CD for a MicroScan V4 from a computers HDD (dead computer but HDD OK)

Recover Data from old HDD:

Note: When moving V4 from one computer to another the Setup Manager Tools Backup and Restore is normally used, as this copies relevant data and key data in the windows win.ini file. If is not sufficient to simply copy the c:\in2000 folder from one computer to another as the data in win.ini will not be included.

Note: Test Computer is a PC that is used to rebuild the setups onto.

1. Put computer HDD onto USB to HDD tool. Wait for the HDD to be picked up on the Test PC.
2. Rename existing c:\in2000 to c:\in2000.old
3. Copy in2000 folder from old HDD to c:\in2000
4. Open win.ini from old computer, and win.ini from Test computer.

on win.ini from Test Computer, rename the following ini sections

From win.ini on HDD, copy the following sections to win.ini on Test Computer.

Save test Computer win.ini

5. Install a new copy of MicroScan to c:\in2000 (as needed 4.1 or 4.05b for Lite16/32) on Test Computer.
6. Start setup manager and do a Tools Backup to c:\in2000\Backup (include Store Data ON).
7. Copy the folder c:\in2000\backup - this will be the set of files needed to be restored by Tools Restore on the new customers computer, along with a 4.05b or 4.1 MicroScan system disk

Sample Instructions for Customer to install Microscan, given the backup created above (Lite 16 system).

Install MicroScan Version 4.

Insert CD into CD drive. Setup program will autostart.
Default install is to c:\in2000, click OK.

Attach serial cable to COM1 on the back of the computer.

Load setups from CD

Start Setup Manager (Start, Programs, MicroScan 2000 Software, Setup Manager)

Click Tools, Restore
Enter path to CD drive, backup folder (it will show a: to begin with).

i.e g:\backup if your CD is g drive.

Click OK.

Data and setups will be loaded from CD to computer.

Register Software (Lite 16/32)

The software will work for 2 weeks without registration.
On the Recorders Register dialog, click Register Now.
Enter the company name as required
Call Intech to get the unlock code.
