You use Import V4 Installation when Importing Setups and Data from a Version 4 install into Version 5, and keeping the software on the same Computer.

This link will only appear on Setup Tools screen or Version 5 first run screen IF a valid Version 4 install has been found on the computer.

• Version 4 and 5 will be on the same computer.
• Version 5 will detect V4 has been set to auto run, and advise that Version 5 should be set to auto run.
• Version 4 and 5 settings are independent (apart from some win.ini settings for V4 PLC interface operations)
• If in any doubt, please supply a V4 Tools Backup to your installer, so we can check that the upgrade is possible.

Installation steps:

1. Stop Version 4.
2. Install V5. insert dongle if supplied.
3. Start V5. On the First run dialog, choose Yes to Import V4 Installation.
4. If a dialog appears indicating V4 autostart, set V5 to autostart.

Note:
You may need to clean desktop icons that start V4, as these will need to be changed to the V5 Start programs. There may also be startup links to MicroScan V4 programs in the Program Start Menu group. Remove them.
You can switch between V4 and V5, but data stored between both is NOT transferable after the first import installation.If conflicts occur between running V4 and V5, reboot the computer when changing between versions as some programs may be left running in ntvdm.exe.

This operation is not possible in Windows Vista, as we are not supporting Version 4 on Windows Vista.
