Station Diagnostics

Please follow the following steps. In case further assistance is needed, contact your MicroScan program installer or support person.

Check the simple things first, i.e cables connected to back of computer and converter box, converter box powered up (either by mains plug or plug pack depending on type of converter).

Step 1.    Station Power Applied.

The first step to perform is to confirm that the power is applied to the station and the stations heartbeat light is flashing.

Step 2.    Communications: Station is RS232.

Check that the RS232 cable is connected at the computer end. It is a 9 Pin or 25 pin gray connector, with a 6 pin cable connected.
Check the RS232 cable is connected at the station end.

Check the RX, TX LED activity on the station.

The RX LED on the station lights up when the station receives data. It is normally OFF.
It is a dumb LED, it flashes ON merely to indicate the arrival of a data signal.

The TX LED on the station lights up when the station recognizes the data and sends a reply back.

Normally the RX and TX LED will flash together. If the station is not responding, only the RX LED will light up about once per second.

Step 2.  Communications: Station is RS422 / RS485.

Check that the cable is connected between the computer and converter box (IN2000-IS, 2100-IS, 2100-NS).
Check that the converter box has power applied.

Check the RX, TX LED activity on the converter box.

The TX LED lights when the computer is sending data, the RX LED lights when the computer receives data.
