Import your new License File
The new licence file name will be similar to ‘lic-12345-6.txt’ where ‘12345’ represents the licence number and ‘6’ represents the key number.
You can check the contents of the file if you wish – it should be similar in format to:
# Licence=11199
# Key=13
# ClientName=My Client Name
# UserName=My User Name
# ContactName=My Contact Name
# Location=My Location
# KeyDate=14-Apr-2007 03:12:43
# Modules=V5,T1000,R1000,M100,E30,MA5,PLC,SHIM
# LockingCode=80-2Z3XE
JPR9ZHTLHZ9I3XKRJ44RURVIL5L3YB26ZW6R8737ZL545KNMFQKT9XPD28I6YV
I5Q37TMGZ8GVBPMKHQH7XNSYLERRPLX5KCMMLPUH# “mscanv5” version “5.0”, no expiration date, exclusive
# End
The file shows the details we have in our database concerning your installation – if there are any changes please email them to us at [email protected] as this helps to locate your licence in future enquiries.
The two important lines for the licencing process are:
# LockingCode=80-2Z3XE
JPR9ZHTLHZ9I3XKRJ44RURVIL5L3YB26ZW6R8737ZL545KNMFQKT9XPD28I6YV
I5Q37TMGZ8GVBPMKHQH7XNSYLERRPLX5KCMMLPUH# “mscanv5” version “5.0”, no expiration date, exclusive
These two lines should be of a similar format to those shown above.
(Note that the second line containing the encryption string has been word-wrapped).
If you received the file via an Upgrade CD then it is recommended to:
- Run the latest MicroScan installation so as to get all of the latest features and service packs – the CD should automatically load a startup page which will have a link that you can click to start the installation.
- Copy the new licence file, located in the root folder of the CD, to the MicroScan folder which is typically C:\MicroScan. Note this is not necessary but is convenient to have a copy of the original licence file on hand for reference.
Alternatively if you received the new licence file via email then save it directly into the MicroScan folder which is typically C:\MicroScan. You can download the latest MicroScan Installation from the internet and update your system at any time – always remember to Backup first.
Feel free to email your backup to us for safe keeping at [email protected]– it will be added to our Licence Database and of course kept confidential. If we have your backup then whenever you request a CD, for upgrade or re-installation, it will be automatically added to the root folder of your MicroScan Installation CD.
This is a free service – it also assists during times of support as we can quickly restore your project onto one of our support PC’s.
OK, we are ready to start the import – the backup is done and the licence file is in the MicroScan folder.
With MicroScan V5 running, from the navigation tree select the “Setup Tools” link and then from the Setup Tools page select the “Register Software” link found in the “System Settings” column:
Confirm to Re-Register by clicking on the “Yes” button:
On the Welcome screen click on the “Next” button:
Select the second option “Step 2 Import Licence File” and then click “Next”:
Click on the “Import” button, navigate to the C:\MicroScan folder, select your new Licence file and then click on the “OK” button:
Wait a few seconds for the new Licence file to be processed – it may appear that nothing is happening but Registration Wizard should soon progress through to the next screen. Check that the modules found in the new Licence file are the same as what was ordered and then click on the “Finish” button:
Congratulations, that has completed the importing of a new Licence file.
Now you may need to Enable and Configure new modules.
