Network Definitions

Active MicroScan

An Active is MicroScan software that prepares network files for other computers to view.
This computer has outstations or PLCs attached that the software communicates with.

Passive MicroScan

A Passive is MicroScan software that views files from a single Active MicroScan.
This computer has no outstations or PLCs attached.

Auto Composite Passive

An Auto Composite Passive allows a passive to view pages from two or more Actives, it will only be available if two or more actives have been found.
This mode allows the passives to auto setup and regenerate themselves based on the pages that have been currently setup on the other Actives.

Passive View Mask

This is a mask that is applied to a MicroScan Passive on a computer by computer basis that allows the setup to restrict what pages are visible on this computer.

User Defined Composite Passive

The User Defined Composite Passive allows a passive to view pages from two or more Actives, it will only be available if two or more actives have been found.
It is a manual only setup mode that allows the user to define the page order and what pages are viewed from the Actives running on the system.
The setup is not rebuilt when the pages are added on the Actives.

Network Combo

A Network Combo is an Active that has stations connected that the computer communicates to, and also has passive pages that can view pages that another Active has generated.
The setup allows the user to manually configure the Active pages (attached to local stations) and manually assign the passive pages that view pages from other Actives.

Important Note on Network Combo:

If the software is being used on an Energy Wizard system, you should be very careful when adding or removing pages, as once configured the Energy Wizard relies on the position of the pages remaining the same.

Network Standby

The Network Standby mode is a special form of Active MicroScan, that allows two computers to be backups to each other.
One PC is nominated DUTY which is online and monitoring data. The other is STANDBY, that monitors the DUTY ready to take itself online if the DUTY pc stops updating a key network file. Both PCs are setup with the same settings, except for the DUTY/STANDBY selection.

You setup the DUTY first, and then the STANDBY which uses remote update the same as what passive use to keep its settings in sync with the DUTY.

Summary of Setup Steps:

The following setup steps are used when setting up the software and are streamlined within the network setup tool.
