To Upgrade an existing Version 4 Passive:

1. Check the machine is compatible with Version 5 (Windows 2000 and XP)
2. Check the networking connection is operating correctly (can browse network etc).
3. Firstly upgrade the site Active(s) to Version 5 and they must be running.
4. Setup the networking on the Active(s)
5. Install the Version 5 software to the passive.
6. Start the Version 5 software, on the Startup dialog, click "Start MicroScan as Network Passive Only".
   Click "Setup a Passive" link, then follow the steps for setting up a Passive.

Note:

The upgrade does not import any version 4 networking settings from the existing Version 4 installation, as these are now directly imported from the Active.
A Network Licence or software registration is NOT required on the passive.

ALL passives must be upgraded to work with version 5. A version 4 passive will not show data from a Version 5 active.
