Network Setup

Step 1 - Setup Network Sharing

Select Networking Operating Mode

File Server (Recommended)

Create a common folder on the server with read/write access for all MicroScan users to access.
All MicroScan (both Active and Passive) pcs must be setup to access this network location, either via a Mapped Drive or UNC Path.
The active is then setup using Network Setup to store files in this folder.

Example File Server Setup

The server has a common network drive (S:)
Create a mapped drive on the Active to S: (read/write access)
Create a mapped drive on the Passive(s) to S: (read/write access).

The Active will then use a folder such as S:\network\jobname to store setups & data, which the passives can find and use (S:\network is the network path and jobname is supplied by the Actives jobname).
Peer to Peer

This mode is used for smaller networks, where a dedicated file server does not exist.
Peer to Peer operation supports only a simple Active - Passive network operation.
Using this mode may not be possible on your network if IT site restrictions are in place that will not allow read/write sharing of folders on individual computers on the network.
On the Active:
Create a Shared folder on the Active in the root drive of the MicroScan Install Folder, or the MicroScan Install Folder itself.
Create User accounts to allow read/write access to this share for the passive users.

On the Passive(s):
Setup a mapped drive on each passive to point to the shared folder.
