High Alarm Outputs
Low Alarm Outputs
The Alarm Outputs dialog box is used to assign the 4 outputs of the alarm to recorder relays. The relays themselves have the address programmed in the Main Editing Window under Recorder Setup - Alarm Relays or by adding a station using Recorder Quick Setup.
If a relay has not been assigned an address, it will show "Relay X - No Address Assigned".
To enable the output, "Enable Output" must be set
on the High or Low alarm category for the alarm we are setting up as well as the
"Enable" setting for the Relay in this window, See image below. This
is set by default when any of the alarm relays have the "Enable"
checkbox checked in this dialog box. (New for Version 5).
Relays A, B, C, D can be used to turn on up to 4 relays on 4 different
outstations when the alarm occurs.
Relay Settings
Enable
To Enable the Relay, the "Enable" checkbox should
be turned on.
Latch
To Latch the alarm on, the "Latch" checkbox should be turned on. When
an alarm output is latched, it must be manually cleared via the Alarm
Status dialog box in the recorder before its output is reset.
If the Latch setting is not on, the Alarm is considered a control output and the
output is reset when the reading clears the differential limits for the line.
Latched alarms appear in the Alarm Status dialog box and appear as Red on the
data screen. Unlatched alarms do not appear in the Alarm
Status dialog box and appear as Blue on the data screen.
Pulse Output
The Pulse Output setting is used to turn the relay on
momentarily when the alarm occurs. If this is set, the latch means that the
alarm will appear in the Alarm Status
dialog box for viewing and clearing, and the alarm is still considered valid
until the user manually clears it.
The relay settings are error checked. If you enable a relay, and its relay shows "No Address Assigned", a message box will appear as follows.
This message is new for Version 5.
Line High Alarm settings, with Enable Output clicked.
Enable Output is shown ticked, which allows the Recorder to write the relay states when the alarm occurs.
