Using Version 5 and Version 4
on the same computer |
|
You may install Version 5, Version 4 and use on the same computer, but the
following limitations apply:
- Installation
Version 5 cannot and should not be installed to the same folder.
You should not copy program and DLL files from the Version 5 folder to the
Version 4 folder and vice-versa.
You should not use setup files created and used by Version 5 in the Version
4 software.
- Running Programs
You can run either Version 4 or Version 5 at once, you cannot run both
programs at the same time.
Only one of version 4 or 5 can be set to autostart when the computer starts.
If you start Version 5 while Version 4 is running, Version 4 will be
automatically closed.
- Setups
Version 5 setups are independent of Version 4, apart from some PLC
interface settings.
To ensure you can go back to previous Version 4 settings, keep an up to date
Setup Manager Tools Backup in case it is necessary to use it to return to previous
settings.
Version 5 uses the same default passwords as Version 4. If you have
imported a Version 4 job, the passwords will be those of Version 4. If you
make changes with the Version 4 Setup Manager, these changes will not be
brought through into Version 5, unless another Import V4 Installation is
done.
- Data Storage and Disk Space
If you import the complete V4 Installation into Version 5, you
must have enough disk space for a second copy of the store files that
Version 5 will use. Additional space is required for new store files and Log
Files.
There is no support for running Version 4 and Version 5 at different times
and combining the data or store files from both programs together.
- Networking
On a Networked System, all actives and passives need to be upgraded to
Version 5.
- To Auto Start Version 4, and not Version 5
1. Disable Auto Start on Version 5
On Setup Tools, click Program Startup, click "Start MicroScan when
Windows Starts" off.
Click OK.
Close Version5
2. Enable Auto Start on Version 4
Run Setup Manager
Click System Setup
Click "Start MicroScan 2000 when Windows Starts" on.
Click OK.
Restart Computer to test.
