MicroScan - Image Interface

The MicroScan Image Interface is a PLC style interface that may be used with MicroScan.

The Image Interface does not connect to any external devices, instead it acts simply as a repository for data.

Data may be 'Read' or 'Written' to the Image Interface in exactly the same way as data is 'Read' or 'Written' to any real PLC driver.

The Image Interface has the following main uses:

  1. For testing purposes when 'Bench Testing' an installation. Say a MicroScan system is being configured to run a MicroScan Interface and it involves Input Tags, Output tags, Alarms and Recorder Lines. In such a system many settings are inter-dependant and it would be very good to be able to 'Bench Test' the system before putting it live. This can be done by configuring the "Image Interface" to emulate, in this case, the MicroScan Interface. Refer to the Image Interface for Testing.
  2. As a repository for user information at run time. Say some data needs to be entered into MicroScan manually by a user or the system requires a full Input / Output interface between MicroScan and another program. To do this we could set up the Image Interface so that it runs all of the time when MicroScan is running. This means that not only can we still 'Read' and 'Write' to the other interfaces in the normal way, but that we can also 'Read' and 'Write' data to the Image interface by MicroScan or any other program. Refer to Image Interface for Run Time.
