Computer |
|
The steps to follow to move the MicroScan software from one computer to
another:
- Obtain Backup from old Computer
From the Setup Tools screen, click "Backup Job Settings" and
specify a location to save the backup to.
You can backup to floppy, flash drive or network server location.
If you wish to include data as well you need to backup to flash drive or
network server.
- Installing Software on the new Computer
Install the software from your CD or via Internet Download.
Start the software and on the New Job screen, specify a dummy job name such
as "temp".
- Load Tools Backup
On the Setup Tools screen, click "Restore Job Settings", browse to
your backup location and click OK.
You may need to change COM port selections, as these could be different from
the old machine.
- Register Software
If you move the software to a new computer, it will need to be registered
again as the new computer will have a new computer ID. Re registration for a new computer may incur an additional charge.
Once you have used the new licence on the new computer the licence on the
old computer is invalid and should not be used again.
If the software is locked to a Version 5 dongle, move the dongle to the
new computer and use the previous lic*.txt issued to you, this file will also be
part of the jobs Tools Backup as lic.txt. You can use the Register Software
Wizard to import and browse to this file. When moving dongled software to a
new computer, be careful to retain the dongle as an issue of a replacement
dongle will incur a charge.
