Tag Setup: Alarm Setup

The Alarm Setup category controls the basic alarm settings for a tag. (Digital and Analogue)

Enable

To Enable the Alarm, click the Enable control on. When the alarm is enabled, extra categories pertaining to the alarm setup will be shown in the category list.

Control Output

To make the AL1 of an analogue tag a control set point, click this checkbox on. AL1 is the set point, and AL2 is for the alarms. AL2 can be actual values or deviation values from AL1 depending on the setting of the AL2 Alarm Type. A Tag controller turns the output on or off depending on the input value, if it is not a controller, the output will stay on until it is manually cleared. This option is not available on a digital tag.

2100-XX On Board Controller

If the tag is tied to a 2100-A16 on board controller, click "2100-XX On board Controller". Then when a object display or button accesses this tag, it will know to get the information from the 2100-XX station controllers.

File Log

If this is set, a message will be recorded to the Alarm Log when an alarm occurs on this tag. If an Event message is set for the tag, it will be recorded to the alarm log, otherwise a standard message will be sent.

Notify

If Notify is set, a Global Notify dialog box will be shown when the alarm occurs. This will give details of the alarm to the user.

Print

To print a message when the alarm occurs, click this on. The message will go to the Data Log printer 1, set under the Logging Printers Category of the System Setup dialog box.

Print Return To Limit

To print a message when the alarm is cleared, click this on. The message will go to the Data Log printer 1, set under the Logging Printers Category of the System Setup dialog box.

Switch To On Alarm

This setting is used to switch to a particular screen when an alarm occurs. Select the screen required. The switch will only occur if the Mimic is in the Run Mode.

Alarm Group

If an alarm group is set, an extra heading is added to the alarm message to allow easy grouping of alarms. The alarm groups themselves are edited in the Mimic Viewer by selecting "Edit","Alarm Groups" and using the Alarm Group Messages dialog box.
